About Us

Thousands of young children across the world are learning French with Sparkle Speak resources, now published by Dart Education.  Our animated adventures, songs and videos are designed to help primary teachers and pre-school co-ordinators give children a magical start to language-learning.  We are best known for Bonjour Milo! Musical Stories, a series of mini animated adventures aimed at children aged four-to-nine.  Another bestseller is A l’école, an album of easy songs that can be incorporated into classroom routines such as tidying up, lining up and getting ready to go home.  And we’re very proud to present Take Brittany, a cross-curricular intercultural understanding resource created in partnership with Dart Education publishers of the successful Take 10 series.

The missing magic

Sparkle Speak was formed in 2010 by Jennie Wilson, a Devon primary school teacher and primary French specialist.  She was looking for a way to weave French into common KS1 and early KS2 curricular topics such as under-the-sea, the rainforest and sports.  Jennie believed the best way to do this was to engage her pupils in a mini adventure that they could literally “live” and act out repeatedly, as a narrated story, a song, a play and a puppet show.  Of course adventures need heroes. With her sister Ruth Wood, an award-winning writer, linguist and French tutor, Jennie created Milo and his best friend Amélie to go on the adventures together and engage young learners.

The Bonjour Milo! Musical Stories series of CD Roms was born and was an instant hit in Devon primary schools where it was tried, tested and improved.  By continually singing, acting and dancing each adventure, young learners absorb core language structures and become confident speakers of French. Children love the magic of Milo and teachers love the magic (but very real) results! Watch our demo videos to see the resources in action.
